What Costs are Involved?
 

Initial Appointments $200 - 250

This appointment takes about 30 to 40 minutes preferably with both Male and Female partners. The details of the vasectomy will be discussed and relevant medical history for both male and female partners.  Usually a brief physical examination of the male partner is required. Some details of the female partner's menstrual cycle and previous pregnancies (if any) may be requested.  Blood tests are usually requested to confirm ovulation and female rubella immunity.

Admission Forms No Charge

This appointment is usually planned at least a few days prior to surgery but may be weeks  earlier if more convenient. This appointment takes about 10 minutes.  The purpose is to finalise the admission details and complete the hospital consent forms. Previous results and any further questions will be discussed.

Vasectomy Reversal $3,300

The total cost is approximately $7,500.
There are three components to this fee.

The surgeons fee is fixed at $3,300.
The anaethetist fee is approximately $1,500 
The hospital fee is about $2,700 and includes the costs of the day surgery operating Theatre, consumable equipment and intravenous antibiotics, the operating microscope and the recovery care.

It is intended that both left and right sides will be reversed.  Occassionally only one side can be reversed or the surgery may take longer than expected. The hospital fees may vary if operating time is shorter or longer than expected.

Post Operative Review Appointment No Charge

A brief Review appointment six weeks following the surgery is required to perform a brief physical exam and discuss the operation findings again. A semen analysis will usually be requested after this appointment. Further advice regarding pregnancy will be provided.

Personal replies to email enquiries will be provided. However detailed discussion requires a clinic appointment and email is intended to provide brief answers to specific questions not covered in the information sheet.
